Bunny Foot...

When Riley was a tiny little pup we used to love her 'bunny foot' - when we scratched her tummy, and her leg/legs would twitch. We used to laugh about it all the time. Now that she's a bigger dog, she has lost her bunny foot trick, and this week, the words 'bunny foot' took on a whole new meaning with Riley and us. On Monday night I took Ry outside one last time before bed, like we do every night. She sniffed around by the steps in the front yard, and picked up something to chew on. Assuming this was another one of her favorite sticks, I brought her back over to the door to go inside. When I got near the outside light, I could see that she most definitely did not have a stick... it was a BUNNY FOOT! (or more specifically, the whole leg, complete with blood and fur.) Shocked and completely grossed out, I did the only thing that made sense - screamed and tried to pick it out of her mouth with a nearby stick. She would have none of that, and chomped down on the leg, chewed just a few times, and swallowed it.

I was so repulsed that I shoved her in her kennel with no goodnight pets, and couldn't look at her for the rest of the night. On Tuesday, being the constant worrier that I am, I called the vet to figure out if there's anything she could pick up from the bunny foot, and what I should be watching out for. They assured me that she'll be just fine... so now I just need to stop being grossed out by my own pup, and let her start licking me again!
